ABOUT

Hi. My name is Viktor Szép. I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Groningen. I have a mixed academic background: I studied Law (PhD) and International Relations (MA). My research mirrors my interdisciplinary background and focuses on the legal and political dimensions of EU foreign and sanctions policy.

At present, I devote most of my time to the H2020 ENGAGE project that examines the possibilities to create a more coherent and effective EU external action. I also continue my independent and collaborative projects on EU sanctions.

Previously, I worked as Assistant Professor at Eötvös Loránd University where I was mainly responsible to conduct EU related courses, including EU history, EU institutions, EU policy-making, EU foreign policy, Brexit, etc. I was also Research Fellow at Eötvös Loránd Research Network where I conducted research on EU sanctions.
